Women in the aviation industry are not confined to being pilots or cabin crew members; many alternative careers exist for women. We have listed a few careers that are pretty suitable for women. Commercial Pilot

Qualification: The minimum qualification for a commercial pilot is 12TH passed or equivalent with at least 50% marks in Maths and Physics. A CPL aspirant should be at least 18 and have a Commercial Pilot License.

Physical Requirement: One needs 6/6 eyesight in one eye; the other eye can be 9/6, which can be rectified. One also needs good physical fitness and should not have any disease that can hamper one's normal routine.

Skills: Physics, Math, English language and communication, exceptional spatial awareness and coordination, and teamwork skills are mandatory. The demand for pilots is continually rising. This competitive job requires a person to undergo rigorous training and pass an examination before joining an airline.

In India, women pilots can join Hindustan Aeronautics LTD's Rotary Wing at Bangalore to start their careers. They can become co-pilots, that is, the first officers. Then, after several hours of flying, they can become captains or pilots in command. Some notable women commercial pilots in India are Zoya Aggarwal, Ritu Rathi Taneja, etc.

Cabin Crew

Qualification: Graduation + diploma in Tourism Management, or graduation in Tourism Management.

Skills: Attentiveness, accountability, patience to work long hours, pleasing personality, good communication and interactive skills, proficiency in English. Being one of the most stylish jobs in the Aviation industry, being a flight attendant comes with great responsibility. Their prime duties are ensuring passengers' safety and providing customer service. Continually greeting customers, handling them, bolstering them throughout turbulence, and offering safety instructions are done with patience, while maintaining good health is indispensable.

A notable name in the history of Indian Cabin Crew was Neerja Bhanot, who came into the limelight posthumously, when she sacrificed her own life to save the lives of the passengers in the aircraft, which was hijacked. A Bollywood Movie was also made on the life of Neerja Bhanot, in which actress Sonam Kapoor played the lead role.

Flight Instructor

Qualification: A commercial pilot license should be obtained after passing 10+2 in PCM, completing a diploma course in flight instruction, and flying the required hours.

Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, teaching skills, analytical and logical reasoning skills, ability to perform under pressure, and attention to detail. People with teaching abilities are best suited for this job. Flight instructors train aspiring pilots. They explain the methods and workings of aircraft, aerodynamics and cockpit instruments, and on-air, assisting them in flying aircraft proficiently.

Air Traffic Controller

Qualification: To become an ATC, one should pursue a degree in Electronics, Radio, Telecommunication, or Electrical engineering or a Master's in electronics or radio physics, telecom or electronics as a specialization subject.

Physical Requirements: Good eyesight, hearing, and general health are needed.

Skills: Multitasking ability, good spatial orientation, sharp memory, speedy decision-making, basic computer knowledge, and self-confidence. Having a CPL can give a jumpstart into this field. Working as an ATC can be daunting if someone cannot handle pressure and multitask.

A person should be able to multitask seamlessly. Stamina, hard work, and an alert mind are some inevitable things. With increasing globalization, the accountability and need for ATCs have also increased. HAL and the Indian Air Force are some recruiters for ATCs.

They execute aircraft maintenance programs, review aircraft engines, and finish repairs and replacements. This field is perfect for people who know how an airplane is made ready to fly each time.
